About PDI Spirit
Simon Blackwell, the founder of PDI Spirit, has developed commercial software applications since 1982. His first applications were vehicle maintenance control, tracking next service due dates and testing, and service history. He also wrote applications to process blank videotape orders for a national high street retailer and applications to control Point of Sale Material (banners and window decals that are displayed in-store) to individual high street stores.
As his skill and experience in development evolved, Simon began writing software for a next-day parcel company. This involved the design and generation of shipping labels, delivery notes, invoices, billing slips, proof of delivery tracking documents and customer service interfaces. Since its inception, the next-day parcel software has undergone several revisions and updates, which are still used in thriving business operations today.
Simon has also served as support manager for Pastel UK. He acquired extensive knowledge of the Sage 50cloud Pastel Partner Accounting/Xpress products in this capacity. His experience started with the dual DOS / Windows version of Pastel and then moved on to the first full windows version of Pastel Partner Accounting (v4) and then through the version history of Sage 50cloud Accounting.
A consulting period followed, which enabled Simon to refine his expertise with Pastel, ACCPAC and report development. The development of middle-tier applications for Sage 50cloud Pastel Partner Accounting and ACCPAC followed, and then in 2000, Simon formed PDI Spirit, which released the first commercial PaXcel package.
The success of PaXcel is primarily due to the input of AG Computer Accounting in Cape Town, SA, who assisted in the debugging process. The collaboration of the two master-minds led to PDI Spirit’s and AG Computer Accounting’s joint partnership of PDI Spirit Computer Software SA CC, which is a thriving business today.
